Traits
Hour Glass Plates (Fall)
This unique type of plating appears visually like an hourglass with endlessly falling sand and appears to be made of natural materials such as glass, wood, and stone. The sand present in these hourglasses is always the color of the plating present on the body and it is rumored that a vabbit with these plates measures the lifespan of creatures around them through the total amount of sand present at the bottom and top of the glass sections but this seems to be mere superstition.
Metallic Plates (Standard)
This trait causes a vabbit's plates to have a metallic texture, even being outright reflective in certain cases.
Animated Bones (Mythic)
Vabbits with this trait completely lack plates or musculature in their arms or around their face, due to this their bones are fully on display, and the inner fire present in their marrow lights and animated the bones to allow for mobility. Vabbits with this trait always lack a nose, so the opening in their skull will display their inner fire, this inner fire is always the color of their inner flesh or those that would otherwise be present on the plates.
*The bones are grayscale by default unless otherwise modified by another trait.
Greenhouse Plates (Spring)
Vabbits with this trait form glass-like plates and the inside of their arms are filled with various types of earth and plant matter. These spaces can resemble various biomes or even be a mix of plants.
Slinky Plates (Potion)
This trait allows any plated section of the body to form a slinky-like coil. When applied to the limbs, two coils may form, but other parts of the body such as the head or areas affected by Body Plates may only have a single coil in total. When applied in a way that two sections form on the body or the limbs, the coil functions like the toy with the two parts functioning individually of each other with the momentum of the spring influencing movement. On limbs, this can cause a long loping gait and powerful kicks, but on the body, this can mean the front limbs move first and the back limbs catch up as the coil extends past a certain point.
Alternate Types Show
-
Slinky Body (Potion)
Species: Mhoats
This trait allows a slinky-like coil formed from goo to appear anywhere on the mhoat's body, even outside of the maximum goo range. When applied to the limbs, two coils may form, but other parts of the body may only form a single coil in total. The function of this coil is much like the toy, with the two halves of the body functioning individually from each other and being pushed and pulled by the momentum created by the coil, which can give them an odd gait or poor control of their movements.
-
Slinky Body (Potion)
Species: Gellys
Gellys with this trait allow an air sac similar to an accordion to form on any part of their body. When applied to the limbs, two air sacs may form, but other parts of the body may only form a single coil in total. The function of this coil is much like the toy, with the two halves of the body functioning individually from each other and being pushed and pulled by the momentum created by the coil, which can give them an odd gait or poor control of their movements.
Glow in the Dark Plates (Summer)
Vabbits with this trait have plating that gives off a faint light when it's dark, this glowing effect can either cover the entire plates or only small sections.
*A vabbit with shaped sections like the one shown for this trait will also need the Complex Plates trait as this trait only allows for the bioluminescent effect.
Decayed Plates (Fall)
This zombie-like trait causes any location a vabbit forms plates to appear decayed, to the point the plates disintegrate and reveal the muscle and bone beneath. This decayed effect may be so extensive the vabbit loses parts of its skeleton or even an entire limb. Given the lack of plating, vabbits with this trait tend to have difficulty using fire magic.
Bag of Holding (Timeless Item)
Vabbits with this trait gains magical plating that can be opened to store items and other things. Some even seem to gain burlap bag-like plating as well. The inside of the plating tends to look like a galaxy and does not count towards the regular maximum of three colors (with the use of the Triple Color trait). It does, however, have its own maximum limit of three colors and requires the appropriate plate color trait for these colors, if the vabbit does not already have it. (So if the inside is three colors, but the regular plating is only two colors, you WILL need the Triple Color trait instead of the Double Color trait.)
They do also have the ability to shrink non-living objects to be able to store in their plating. Most to do this have been seen only able to store about 2-3 large objects before tiring out. Those with more magical abilities have been recorded to be able to store more objects, up to about 10 large objects. The limit for smaller objects is a higher number, yet relatively the same when taking in account the size and weight of large objects. The highest total seems to have been about 500 pounds, taking up a space of around 64 cubic feet.
Single Color (Standard)
This color is applied to the plates and inner flesh but excluded from bones, teeth, eyes, and nails.
Double Color (Standard)
These colors are applied to the plates and inner flesh but excluded from bones, teeth, eyes, and nails.
Triple Color (Mutation)
These colors are applied to the plates and inner flesh but excluded from bones, teeth, eyes, and nails.
Warm Tones (Standard)
Vabbits contain a lot of heat, so their plates tend to have warm tones as well, though there are colors that do not seem to fall under warm tones regardless. Cold tones specifically, however, are rare.
Pure grayscale, which has equal parts red, green, and blue, and therefore has a saturation of 0, defaults to a hue of 0° in most art programs. In reality, it is the exact same color no matter what degree of hue it is at, with the only possible change depending on brightness/value. Because of this, pure grayscale will fall under Warm Tones by default, if there is no other tone present that would fall under cool tones.
Cool Tones (Mutation)
Cool Tones have hues between 160° and 290° on the HSV or HSL scale. This section is mostly blue tones.
Pure grayscale, which has equal parts red, green, and blue, and therefore has a saturation of 0, defaults to a hue of 0° in most art programs. In reality, it is the exact same color no matter what degree of hue it is at, with the only possible change depending on brightness/value. Because of this, pure grayscale will count as Cool Tones only if there is another tone present that falls under cool tones.
Stained Glass Colors (Mythic)
This trait is in place for any other Vabbit Body trait, negating the requirement of having both a Color and Tone trait and allowing for unlimited colors from any range.
This trait is, however, only allowed as long as the Stained Glass Plates trait is applied.
Fox Fire (Fall)
Vabbits with this trait generate such intense heat internally that the flames cannot be contained within their body and need to be continuously released from their vents. Alongside these flames, their eyes give off a firey trail, and floating fire lights form around their body.
*The fire colors don't have to match any color present on the vabbit, so whether the fire colors are unique or a color present on the design is entirely up to the artist.
Mosslight (Standard)
A particular species of moss that can be found deep in the caves vabbits call home can be transferred in their fur and begin to grow, this moss gives off a bioluminescent glow and can form naturally occurring marking patterns. Spots are commonly seen with this trait, but there are a wide variety of markings types that the moss can form in a vabbit's fur to give them a slight glow. These mosses come in a variety of colors as well beyond the green shown below.
Singed (Fall)
Vabbits with this trait find portions of their body consumed by their own fire, a mutation in their natural fire tolerance being interrupted in random sections of their body. As a result, parts of their body have been burned away to display bone and muscle, with the fur near these areas appearing singed and soot-covered.
Jet Exhaust (Mythic)
This trait allows a set of plates that form into open vents that function similarly to jet exhausts that can appear anywhere on the vabbit's body. These vents can release powerful bursts of flame and steam that can allow a vabbit to fly through the air.
*Vabbits with this trait are able to learn air elemental magic but lose the ability to learn earth elemental magic.
Lithic Bones (Winter)
This trait causes vabbit bones, teeth, and nails to mineralize and appear like various stones and gems. While this trait is usually more hidden, more of the skeleton can become visible when paired with traits such as Glass Plates or Singed.
Chalk Growths (Mutation)
Literal chalk just growing out of a Vabbit's body. By default white, but may be similar to plating color.
