Traits
Plates (Standard)
Mhoats with this trait form plating that is more clearly segmented than the default. These plates can be snug to the body or even larger and more decorative similar to armor or the shells seen on insects.
Zombie Plates (Mutation)
Mhoats with this trait have a magic deficiency that causes the plates on their body to grow and fall off over time. This can affect small sections of the body or cause the majority of the mhoat to lack a shell, but there will always be some part of the shell present. Additionally, this can cause plates to grow in areas where they otherwise wouldn't, but this does affect the transformation ability of things like a mhoat's front limbs.
* This trait is similar to Goo Patch, but the plating on Zombie Plates have an incomplete, broken appearance and can grow in areas that Goo Patch doesn't allow.
Simple Plates (Standard)
These plates follow the shape and flow of the arm. It can have some shapes built in, but not isolated from the plates.
Complex Plates (Mutation)
These plates do not have to follow the flow of the arm. They can look like actual items or shapes.
Stained Glass Plates (Mythic)
These plates are slightly see through. There is no limitation on markings or colors for these type of plates.
This will require the Stained Glass Colors trait to replace the default Vabbit Tones traits.
Glass Plates (Mutation)
These plates are made of transparent or colored glass, showing the bones underneath. Can have colored markings, but must still maintain the plate color rules.
*The image is just an example of how the trait should work. Bones should be within the grayscale color range much like the sclera, nails, and teeth.
Bone Plates (Mutation)
This trait gives a vabbit plates made of bone that tend to be exclusively bone colors; grayscale or neutral colors are all possible. These plates have fewer vents and tend to shift more often making a rattling bone sound when the vabbit walks. The lack of vents and movement of the plates lead these vabbits to have less control of their steam when actively releasing it and the open vent on their nose constantly gives off a steady stream.
Cracked Plates (Fall)
This trait causes a vabbit to lack the connective tissue that feeds its plates and joins the plates to the skin and muscle beneath. As a result, their plates tend to be much weaker and over time crack and flake away showing the muscle and sometimes even internal organs below should the trait compromise the vabbit's skeleton in areas such as the face. Given that parts of their internal body are open to the air, most vabbits with this trait refuse to use their vents to release steam as it increases the failure of their plates and can cause damage to the unprotected parts of their body. The plating can either be cracked in static sections or change over time, it is up to the owner how they wish to depict this trait on their vabbit.
*Any internal part of the vabbit shown must be similar in color to the plates as the plates and internal flesh of a vabbit share the same color. If you wish to use a unique color for the inner flesh of a vabbit then you would need to have the associated color trait (single, double triple) or tone trait (warm or cool) that is required for the plates.
Frost Plates (Winter)
Vabbits with this trait have plates of ice that form in rocky shapes or can be shaped similarly to ice sculptures. When exposed to extreme heat these plates will become drippy but don't seem to melt at all and these vabbits give off an aura of chilly air which can be welcomed when working in hot tunnels or during summer. Vabbits with this trait are granted Cool Tones by default, given ice tends to come in shades of blue.
Chalkboard Plates (Mutation)
Can be used for temporary writing, such as with chalk. While the main plates are black or very dark gray, the vabbit's claws and Back Plates (trait) can still be other colors, following the rules of the plating colors. The chalkboard color is exempt from the count.
Beaky Plates (Mutation)
This plate type extends beyond the vabbit's nose and forms into a beak-like shape on the vabbits face, and this trait also modifies the arm plates, making them appear more wing-like visually.
Lava Lamp Plates (Winter)
These plates appear glass-like with metallic caps at the top and bottom of where they form and are filled with a lava-like liquid that when heated by a vabbit's steam production will behave similarly to a lava lamp.
Liquid Filling Plates (Spring)
Vabbits with this trait form glass-like plating that slowly fills with a liquid that is a more intense version of the flesh colors present in the vabbit's inner ear. The outside of these plates can have a variety of markings that are held to plate color requirements, with measurement type markings being fairly common.
Hour Glass Plates (Fall)
This unique type of plating appears visually like an hourglass with endlessly falling sand and appears to be made of natural materials such as glass, wood, and stone. The sand present in these hourglasses is always the color of the plating present on the body and it is rumored that a vabbit with these plates measures the lifespan of creatures around them through the total amount of sand present at the bottom and top of the glass sections but this seems to be mere superstition.
Metallic Plates (Standard)
This trait causes a vabbit's plates to have a metallic texture, even being outright reflective in certain cases.
Greenhouse Plates (Spring)
Vabbits with this trait form glass-like plates and the inside of their arms are filled with various types of earth and plant matter. These spaces can resemble various biomes or even be a mix of plants.
Slinky Plates (Potion)
This trait allows any plated section of the body to form a slinky-like coil. When applied to the limbs, two coils may form, but other parts of the body such as the head or areas affected by Body Plates may only have a single coil in total. When applied in a way that two sections form on the body or the limbs, the coil functions like the toy with the two parts functioning individually of each other with the momentum of the spring influencing movement. On limbs, this can cause a long loping gait and powerful kicks, but on the body, this can mean the front limbs move first and the back limbs catch up as the coil extends past a certain point.
Alternate Types Show
-
Slinky Body (Potion)
Species: Mhoats
This trait allows a slinky-like coil formed from goo to appear anywhere on the mhoat's body, even outside of the maximum goo range. When applied to the limbs, two coils may form, but other parts of the body may only form a single coil in total. The function of this coil is much like the toy, with the two halves of the body functioning individually from each other and being pushed and pulled by the momentum created by the coil, which can give them an odd gait or poor control of their movements.
-
Slinky Body (Potion)
Species: Gellys
Gellys with this trait allow an air sac similar to an accordion to form on any part of their body. When applied to the limbs, two air sacs may form, but other parts of the body may only form a single coil in total. The function of this coil is much like the toy, with the two halves of the body functioning individually from each other and being pushed and pulled by the momentum created by the coil, which can give them an odd gait or poor control of their movements.
Glow in the Dark Plates (Summer)
Vabbits with this trait have plating that gives off a faint light when it's dark, this glowing effect can either cover the entire plates or only small sections.
*A vabbit with shaped sections like the one shown for this trait will also need the Complex Plates trait as this trait only allows for the bioluminescent effect.
Decayed Plates (Fall)
This zombie-like trait causes any location a vabbit forms plates to appear decayed, to the point the plates disintegrate and reveal the muscle and bone beneath. This decayed effect may be so extensive the vabbit loses parts of its skeleton or even an entire limb. Given the lack of plating, vabbits with this trait tend to have difficulty using fire magic.
